Hays Claude Mayo

June 3, 1948 - December 20, 2010

Hays Claude Mayo, 62, Kansas City, passed away. Monday, December 20, 2010 at St. Luke's Northland.
He was born June 3, 1948 in Queens, Flushing, New York City, NY, the son of Hays Claude and Lila Elaine (Slay) Mayo.
On May 31, 1969, he married Alexis Miller in Indiana, PA. She survives at the home.
Hays obtained a bachelor's degree in Business Administration from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. He served with the Army during the Vietnam War 1969 - 1970 and was a disabled veteran. Hays was a computer analyst and had his own business Haylex International. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints for 36 years and a volunteer chaplain at the Federal Prison at Leavenworth and Kansas State Prison at Lansing.
Survivors in addition to his wife, Alexis, are his children, Kristin Smith, Kansas City, MO, Lisa Pennington, Kansas City, MO, James Mayo, Oceanside, CA, Seth Mayo, Fallbrook, CA, Meagan Wiley, Smithville, MO and Samantha Ransom, Kansas City, MO; Grandchildren, Timothy Farrimond, Nicolas Farrimond, Ian Smith, Estellarose Smith, Lilianna Smith, Kameron Pennington, Heather Pennington, Cassidy Pennington, Luke Pennington, Caitlin Pennington, Rhianna Mayo, Devon Wiley, Jade Wiley, Sariah Ransom, Benjamin Ransom and Alexandra Anderson; Siblings, Beverly Dietz, Alexandria, VA, Frank Mayo, Rockwall, TX and John Mayo, Huntsville, TX.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, December 29, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Platte City, MO under the direction of Roberson Funeral Home, Bethany, MO. Burial with military rites will follow in Leavenworth National Cemetery, Leavenworth, KS at 12:30 p.m. There is no visitation.
